Monster Children have just wrapped up their inaugural photo which has received some amazing entries which you can check in the video below (stick around for the girlies towards the end!). Here’s what they had to say about it:
“At the very core of Monster Children Magazine is photography. Specifically, how the lifestyle we embody is captured and portrayed. In 2011 we brought together a photography competition like never before seen in Australia. With $30,000 in prize money, and a two month period for aspiring photographers to upload their images in the respective categories: Student, Travel, Music, Lifestyle, Action & Girl. All in all we received just shy of 3500 individual entries, however there could only be six winners. Enjoy”

Felicity Groom is a folk/pop songstress of pure attraction. An abundance of seduction and style saturates the air around her, capturing and enthralling all those that gravitate towards her musically dark aura.
‘Siren Song‘, the first single from her debut album ‘Gossamer‘, is a shiver inducing reflection of these sensibilities, exuding her mass amounts of ’60s cool and corrupting charm. The tinge of darkness that accommodates her very existence is so well complimented with her melodic, sometimes wailing, harmonies, and the tone of the backing arrangement creates such an incredible feel for the song as a whole. Magnifiques.
The video itself oozes sexuality, and is as much inebriating to the mind as the music is. Black & White tone, slow motion, giant fan; it’s raunchy yet elegant, and ever so tantalizing. Enough said?

The praise I have for this troupe is borderline psychotic. In a time where music seems to be taking a turn into the world of “hype”, it’s amazingly refreshing to still have a band that doesn’t alter their musical output, creating gems worthy of aural arousal.
Their debut EP is a 4-track plethora of ambiance, echoes and ravishingly seductive tones, with throwbacks to modern indie/alternative typecasts combined with vibes of the new wave movement; think the brainchild of Bloc Party and Foals meeting with that of The Smiths and Echo + The Bunnymen.
As you transcend throughout the entirety of the collection, you will be greeted with highs and lows, insisting you delve deeper into the pits of musical ecstasy. ‘Nautical Haste‘ is a clear rager; a ditty so irresistible and so void of an adequate description that it is the epitome of their genius. In short, it plays pretty well.
